Rechargeable Ni-Zn cells

1.6 volts. The rechargeable for high-drain gear.
Ordinary NiMH rechargeables sit at 1.2 volts, and plenty of devices read that as a flat battery. Nickel-zinc holds about 1.6, the same class as a disposable alkaline, so camera flashes recycle faster, torches run brighter and motorised toys keep their punch.

Two things to know before you buy
It needs a Ni-Zn charger. Ni-Zn charges to about 1.9 volts, and a standard NiMH charger will not fill it. Mismatched chargers are the single most common complaint with this chemistry, so we say it on every listing and we will cross-sell the right charger.
It is for gear you actually use. Ni-Zn self-discharges faster than premium low-self-discharge NiMH and gives fewer cycles. It is the right cell for a torch or a flash in regular rotation, and the wrong one for something left in a drawer for a year.
Best suited to
Camera flashes, flashlights and head torches, motorised and radio-control toys, wireless game controllers, blood-pressure monitors, door locks. Anything high-drain that gets cycled often.
